Defend the Senate Fund
What you need to know
Democrats hold a narrow 51-49 majority in the U.S. Senate and need to hold onto seven competitive seats this November to retain it: AZ, MI, MT, NV, OH, PA, and WI. In addition to the Senate's role confirming judicial nominations—including Supreme Court seats—defending control of the chamber will allow Democrats to prevent a nationwide abortion ban, fight the climate and gun crises, and protect affordable health care.
Where your money goes
AZ-SEN
Ruben Gallego
Hold
Ruben Gallego is a current member of the U.S. House running against Kari Lake for the Senate seat vacated by Kyrsten Sinema. Losing this seat to a Republican would directly shift the balance of power for Democrats in the U.S. Senate. Kari Lake is a MAGA zealot backed by Donald Trump who supports stronger restrictions on abortion and spreads conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
NV-SEN
Jacky Rosen
Hold
Jacky Rosen is defending her seat against Sam Brown, who supports the far-right agenda of banning abortion even in the case of rape or incest. Abortion will play a major role in this race because voters will also get the chance to vote for the Nevada Right to Abortion Initiative, which Jacky Rosen supports, on the November ballot.
OH-SEN
Sherrod Brown
Hold
Sherrod Brown has represented Ohioans in the U.S. Senate since 2006 and is now defending his seat in a competitive race against Bernie Moreno, who suspended his 2022 campaign before the Republican primary that J.D. Vance ultimately won. While Brown won his last election in 2018 by 6.8 points, the state swung for Trump in 2020 marking a 14+ point shift statewide.
MT-SEN
Jon Tester
Hold
Investing in Jon Tester’s campaign in Trump-favorable Montana is critical for keeping this competitive race on the map. Tester won his first election for the Senate in 2006 with a margin of victory of less than 1 percent and has maintained his seat in a state that is trending increasingly Republican (Biden lost the state by over 15 points in 2020). Tester's ability to hold a Senate seat in deeply red Montana since 2007 speaks to his authenticity and connection to the state's voters.
WI-SEN
Tammy Baldwin
Hold
After winning her reelection by 11 points in 2018, Tammy Baldwin is defending her seat against Eric Hovde, a California-based banker who poured upwards of $13 million into his own campaign. This competitive race centers on Hovde's opposition to abortion access and Baldwin's track record of providing for Wisconsin's working families, seniors, and women.
MI-SEN
Elissa Slotkin
Hold
Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin is running for Michigan's open Senate seat (previously held by retiring Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow) to defeat Mike Rogers, who lobbied for a nationwide abortion ban and repeatedly introduced federal legislation that would make IVF treatments illegal during his time in Congress.
