our Impact

Mobilizing where it matters

Swing Left’s mission is simple: we make it easy for people to maximize their impact on the most competitive elections to help Democrats win.

In 2024 we…

Raised $25 million

Knocked 1.6 million doors

Made 3.8 million calls

Wrote 11 million letters*

*Swing Left volunteers helped write 11 million letters as part of a coalition led by Swing Left affiliate Vote Forward, in partnership with more than 200 groups and organizations.

Swing Left points your effort to where it matters most

In 2024, we prioritized the tightest races

95% of our House targets and 100% of our Senate targets were decided by single-digit margins—and we won the majority of those races.

A narrow House margin sets the stage for 2026

Despite national losses, Swing Left channeled grassroots volunteer and donor energy at scale to key swing races up and down the ballot—significantly narrowing the GOP majority in Congress and setting the stage for 2026 House races.

Where the Swing Left community invested time and money, Democrats performed better

Our target races saw a significantly smaller rightward shift than the national average. Grassroots action matters.

Swing Left made the difference in tipping point races

Swing Left’s support drove electoral wins for Democrats in key state-level races and Congressional districts critical to the U.S. House map.

Our volunteers are organizing now for future victories

Swing Left’s grassroots volunteers are engaged in long-term, year-round organizing—a model that will be instrumental in winning future elections and building sustained, year-over-year Democratic power across the country.

What Democratic leaders are saying

“Swing Left is one of the greatest innovations to help our democracy…that’s happened in the last decade. If there was ever a counter to the huge amounts of right-wing money that cascades into the Republican party, it is Swing Left.”

Committed to Long-term, Year-Round Organizing

In 2025, Swing Left will double down on long-term, year-round organizing to secure wins in key swing states and districts. This work will require early investment and have a meaningful impact up and down the ballot for years to come. Our top two priorities in 2025 and 2026 are winning power in the states and winning back the House of Representatives.

As part of our “early, often, and sustained” grassroots engagement and infrastructure building, we are working to shape the future of the Democratic Party. In January, we launched our Five Organizing Principles for the DNC, which advocate for grassroots organizing to be at the heart of the DNC’s future priorities.

Our track record of success

Since Swing Left’s founding in 2017, our one million members have driven some of the highest levels of grassroots engagement in the ecosystem. Our strategic targeting and data-driven approach mean that every volunteer hour and donor dollar has outsized impact—even compared to much larger organizations.

In the 2018 midterms, Swing Left was the largest driver of volunteer shifts directly to Democratic U.S. House campaigns.

In the 2020 cycle, Swing Left was the largest bundler of donations to state legislative candidates.

In the 2022 and 2024 cycles, Swing Left remained a leading source of volunteer shifts and grassroots donations to Democratic candidates in competitive races.

The Swing Left difference in 2024

Organizing works! From knocking doors to writing letters, grassroots efforts were pivotal in minimizing GOP gains and securing Democratic victories in the 2024 elections.

In 2024, Swing Left helped drive key state-level successes in Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania—as well as in New York and California districts critical to the U.S. House map, where our volunteers contacted hundreds of thousands of voters.

In tipping-point races that came down to the margins, Swing Left’s grassroots support made the difference.

Our strategic efforts in California and New York—two states where Swing Left plays a pivotal role in securing electoral outcomes—led to razor-thin victories between 2 and 2.8 points for candidates like Josh Riley (NY-19), Laura Gillen (NY-04), George Whitesides (CA-27), Dave Min (CA-47), Derek Tran (CA-45), and Adam Gray (CA-13).

Our signature bus program organized 58 buses that transported 2,246 volunteers to knock on more than 245,700 doors the weekend before the election.

In addition to the grassroots support, the donor stewardship provided by Swing Left helped us make key in-roads and raise the necessary resources to flip this seat.”
